Get Involved – Help Your Community in an Emergency

When disaster strikes, our community will need people like you. ARK (Acts of Roskill Kindness) is building a local emergency response team, and we’re looking for volunteers who are ready to step up when it matters most.

If you have a current first aid certificate, building, electrical or plumbing experience, or can speak Samoan, Tongan, Arabic, Mandarin or Hindi, your skills will be a huge asset. We’re also keen to hear from people with logistics experience or those who are fit and able to help with physical tasks.

We’ll provide the gear and equipment – you just need to bring your time and willingness to help. We don’t have space to store donated goods at this stage, but your presence and participation will be vital.

When we activate the Community Emergency Hub, a whiteboard at the entrance will show what items, roles and tasks are needed. Please stay connected and get involved early, so we know who we can count on.

To join our response network, contact ARK Coordinator Richard Barter at richard@ark.org.nz or on 021 277 1213. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient Roskill community.

ARK is proud to work alongside local businesses, organisations, faith groups and funders who believe in the power of community resilience. Whether it's through in-kind support, sponsorship, expert advice, or co-delivery of emergency response initiatives, your partnership helps us prepare for and respond to disasters in ways that are locally led and culturally grounded.

We welcome partnerships that contribute to community safety, wellbeing and preparedness – from sharing equipment or spaces, to offering specialist skills, or helping amplify vital information. Together, we can ensure Roskill is ready when it matters most.

If your organisation is interested in partnering with ARK, please contact our coordinator Richard Barter at richard@ark.org.nz or on 021 277 1213.

Let’s work together to build a stronger, more connected Roskill.
